PREPARATIONS for the second edition of The Manica Post Health and Wellness Day are at an advanced stage, with sports enthusiasts from several corporates set to trade their computers and work-suits away from office environment with sporting boots and match balls on the field of play.

The event is set for Mutare Boys’ High School Grounds from 8am until 5pm next Friday.

One of the country’s leading fuel retailers, Glow Petroleum, diamond miners, Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) and Mutare City Council, among many other business entities, development partners and local authorities have confirmed their participation at this year’s potentially explosive event.

Manica Post Editor, Cletus Mushanawani said: “We are excited to announce that preparations for this year’s edition of The Manica Post Health and Wellness Day are at an advanced stage, and almost everything is set for the event.

“We are greatly humbled by the support we are receiving from different stakeholders. We are grateful to the stakeholders who have been with us when we started this initiative last year and are still with us as we get into the second edition of the event.

“This is a day meant to promote good health and wellness in our respective communities. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to the health and wellness of not only our employees but the entire nation,” he said.

Mushanawani said the event came after the realisation that more than ever before, people today tend to lead sedentary lifestyles that have had a negative effect on their physical and mental wellbeing.
It has resulted in the prevalence of health conditions like obesity, lifestyle diseases, mood swings, low stamina and depression.

“Leading a healthy lifestyle has become increasingly important in helping people to overcome these issues and lead happier, more fulfilling, productive, and longer life,” he said.

During the event, a carnival atmosphere ideal for a family day out is expected to unfold as corporate backed teams, made up their employees, are expected to compete in various sporting disciplines that include football, netball, volleyball, chess and basketball.
