PREMIERSHIP Manica Diamonds’ FC coach Luke ‘Vahombe’ Masomere says he is hoping to sharpen his  strike force and midfield  as the team  prepares for the second half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

As Premiership action resumes this weekend, the spotlight would be on clubs’ mid-season window transfer acquisitions.

The Gem Boys, as Manica Diamonds are fondly known, finished the first half of the season with 17 points from 12 matches.

The ZCDC bankrolled outfit won four, drew five and lost three matches to accrue a total of 17 points.

Their last assignment was against Ngezi Platinum and they were frustrated to a goalless stalemate at home.

Manica Diamonds need reinforcements to boost their squad and keep up with the competition in the second round of the Castle Lager Premiership race.

And as the Gem Boys resume their campaign against FC Platinum tomorrow (Saturday), Masomere revealed they were yet to make a move on the market.

“So far, there is nothing yet. We are still to hear from the executive if we can beef up the squad. Basically, I am looking for three or four players in the strike force and midfield departments. I am not sure if it is going to be possible. I feel that these are the departments that need to be strengthened.

“It is every coach’s ambition to try and boost his squad to achieve the desired results.  I want players that will see us improve on our shortcoming. We want to win as many matches as possible from now going forward, “he said.

Masomere said he is not focusing much on the results from the first half of the season and he will focus more on the fixtures lying ahead.

“We are working very hard as a team and I am not reading much in our first half performances. O Saturday we will clash with the log leaders FC Platinum.

“In a game of football, each team prepares to win and we did all that we can to come up with positive results. We are leaving no stone unturned.

“FC Platinum are very organised and I respect that. I am so happy that my injured players have been training with the team for the whole week save for Benjamin Marere who is still out,” said Masomere.
