A 22-YEAR-OLD Dangamvura woman was last Saturday found dead in her house in a suspected murder case linked with her boyfriend.

Tambudzai Mashayamombe of number 21 New Stands in Federation, was found dead with several bruises all over her body and blood oozing from her nose. The boyfriend, whose identity is yet to be established, locked Tambudzai inside the house after committing the heinous act before vanishing.

Police confirmed the murder.

The incident which left residents in the sprawling high-density suburb of Dangamvura shell-shocked happened around 8pm.

“Investigations are in progress and we are appealing to members of the public with information leading to the man linked to the death to contact the nearest police station,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa.

On the fateful day, Tambudzai came home around 7pm with her boyfriend. They had supper together with Tambudzai’s three children aged five, seven and 11. They later retired to sleep in separate rooms. 60-year old Magaret Kasayi, who is a neighbour to the late Tambudzai, went to collect some money from her the following morning but the children told her that their mum (Tambudzai) was not yet awake. She returned home and later went back to check on her.

Sensing danger, Kasayi went to Tambudzai’s room and discovered it was locked from outside. She broke the door and realised that she was dead. She had several bruises around her body and blood was oozing from her nose. She alerted other neighbours who reported the matter to the police.

In an unrelated matter, a 21-year-old Chimanimani man last week axed his father to death after he was reprimanded over alcohol abuse.

Police arrested Panashe Matyukira for killing his father, Aprose Matyukira (55) of Nemaramba Village in Chief Mutambara’s area.

“Before committing the heinous act, Panashe was seen at around 12 noon by her mother, Sethekele Ndlovhu (45) sharpening his axe at their homestead,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

“Ndlovu heard her husband crying for help and when she went there to investigate she saw the axe stuck on his head. She however, was not able to identify the suspect since it was in the evening. Ndlovu later identified the axe as the one which she had seen earlier with Panashe. She alerted the deceased’s brother Philip Matyukira (45) who took Aprose to Birchenough Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

Police attended the scene and recovered the axe.

Panashe was arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
