A MUTARE man has been hauled before the courts on malicious damage to property charges after he allegedly drove a haulage truck into his ex-wife Toyota Raum in an apparent fit of rage.

Fungai Kufakunesu (41) who could not fathom seeing his wife having quality time with her new found love after she moved out of their matrimonial house, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Mutare provincial magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura presided over the case while Mr Matthew Chimutunga prosecuted. Kufakunesu was found guilty and is awaiting sentence.

The court heard that sometime in June, Sekai Nyabudzi was at Glow Petroleum Service Station refuelling her Toyota Raum car with her new lover Nicodemus Mudambuki when she was approached by her ex-husband Kufakunesu.

“He demanded to know why Nyabudzi was cheating on him and having an affair with Mudambuki. Kufakunesu opened the front passenger’s door where Mudambuki was seated.

‘‘He dragged Mudambuki from the vehicle intending to assault him. Nyabudzi then rushed to rescue Mudambuki from being assaulted leaving her vehicle driver’s door open and keys on the ignition.

“Kufakunesu then rushed into the Toyota Raum and drove it towards his parked truck. He disembarked from the vehicle and got into his truck.

‘‘He drove the haulage truck two times against his wife’s smaller vehicle thereby damaging it in the process,” said Mr Chimutunga.

Total value damaged was $866.
