VETERAN lyricist and celebrated artiste Leonard ‘‘Karikoga’’ Zhakata — who is set to release a new album early next year — will headline Club Mandisa’s fun-filled Christmas jamboree.

Zhakata, who is arguably the best word-smith in the music circles, is currently ridding high with hot single Game changer.

The ZORA music genius will perform on Boxing Day.

Zhakata boasts of a rich discography that dates back to 1994 when he released the evergreen and all time smash hit ‘‘Mugove’’ off the album ‘‘Maruva enyika’’.

‘‘Ndingaite Sei?’’, ‘‘Pakuyambuka’’, ‘‘Vagoni vebasa’’ and ‘‘Mandishorei’’ are some of his successful albums.

He added another feather on his cap in 2016 when his three songs — Madam Boss, Zvine mwaka and Moyo wekutenda — scooped the first, second and third prizes, respectively in the Radio Zimbabwe Coca Cola Top 50 hit charts.

The Mubikiria hit-maker’s manager Ben Zhakata told The Weekender Entertainment that he will also sample some songs from the forthcoming album, which is set to be released early next year.

“It is going to be a show to remember. We are raring to go and will play a blend of old and new hits.

‘‘Revellers will also have the opportunity to request their own favourite songs from our basket,” said Zhakata.

Local fans will have the chance to see longest serving guitarist Anthony Bizeki at his best.

Zim All Stars instrumentalists include Bizeki (lead guitar), Soul Zinzonda (rhythm guitar), Arnold Muchemwa (keyboard) and drummer Taurai Munyanyi.

Bizeki is Zhakata’s longest serving band member and right hand man.

He has been in the band for more than 20 years. Show promoter Boniface Nyamanhindi said they saw it fit to have Zhakata as one of their main entertainers during the festive season.

“We are wrapping up with the year in style. Zhakata has never disappointed. We urge revellers to come out in number and be part of the fun during this festive season,” he said.
