MUTARE-based gospel musician, Tsitsi Kavhukatema, who recently won a court case against Harare-based gospel musician, Tinotenda Katsande who stole her song titled “Handina Mweya unotongwa nemadzinza”, says she has moved on and is working on new projects.
25-year old Katsande was recently convicted and was fined RTGS$400 with a two year jail term in case he fails to pay the fine when he appeared before a Harare magistrate Mrs Rumbidzai Mugwagwa facing charges of producing or recording song produced by another artiste without the authority of the owner of the copyright.
The song initially appeared on Kavhukatema’s album titled “Jesu arikuuya” in 2012.
In an interview, Kavhukatema, who is currently in Botswana said she was glad that justice prevailed and she is ready to come up with another chart-buster.
She is currently riding high with new song “Zvinogoneka” which is receiving fair airplay on radio stations Diamond FM and Radio Zimbabwe.
“I am moving on after the mishap. I am glad that peace prevailed. I think this was also a lesson for those musicians who want to reap from what they did not sow. The unity that most gospel artistes showed on the matter was overwhelming. The support was also awesome. I am now working on releasing videos of all the songs that I have released so far. We are raring to go and we will be releasing a new album before end of this year. We are also working on popularising my new song titled “Zvinogoneka”. Our marketing team is working flat out to make sure that the song reaches all parts of the world. We will also embark on a countrywide tour, if time allows, marketing our brand,” she said.
Kavhukatema has three albums to date namely, “Jesu vari kuuya”, “Vanokonzeresa Jesu” and “Tendeuka/Repent” as well as the single “Zvinogoneka”.
