A CHIKANGA man was forced to seek the court’s intervention after his ex-wife had confiscated his bank cards and identity documents.

Tinashe Maparure told the court that when he parted ways with Juliet Zivengwa in April, she confiscated the documents and told him that he would only get them after their reconciliation.

Appearing before senior Mutare magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo, Maparure was seeking a protection order against Zivengwa.

“I need my national identity documents Your Worship. I am being treated like an illegal immigrant at police check points. Zivengwa is refusing to surrender my documents. When we parted ways, she told me that she would only give them back to me when we reconcile,” he said.

“I could have applied for replacements of these documents but I do not have the money. She is selfish and that is why I left her. I do not want to continue associating with her so I pray for the court’s intervention. She should move on and allow me to live in peace,” said Maparure.

Asked to respond to the allegations, Zivengwa admitted that she was holding on to Maparure’s documents.

She apologised to him and handed back the documents during the court session.

She, however, did not tell the court why she had confiscated the documents.

Mr Murendo granted the protection order in Maparure’s favour.
