TWO sought-after musicians, Jah Prayzah and Jah Signal will for the first time clash in Watsomba in a potentially-explosive gig that is set to draw scores of fans from Manicaland province early next month.

The gig slated for September 6 at Mandel Night Club, is part of Watsomba-based businessman, Lovemore Mwandimutsira’s 40th birthday celebrations.

Mwandimutsira, who is also basking in glory of scooping the Rural Business-person of the Year Second Runner-up Award at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce business awards held recently, said preparations of the high profile gig were at an advanced stage.

This is the first time Watsomba, which is an administrative and trading centre for Mutasa and located 42km north of Mutare, will host such high profile musicians. Both Jah Prayzah and Zimdancehall godfather Jah Signal confirmed the show and promised scintillating performances.

“We have been performing in Mutare for several years and we are excited that this time we will be playing in Mutare where we expect to meet a legion of new fans.

We are ready for the showdown and we are urging our fans to come in their numbers and be part of this event,” said Jah Prayzah who spoke through his manager Keen Mushapaidze.

Fans will be treated to Jah Prayzah’s hits such as “Dzamutsanamutsana”, “Chengetedza”, “Dangerous”, “Hakata” and “Kumahumbwe” as well as Signal’s “Sweetie”, “Stonyeni”, “Mubako”, “Ishe” and “Unovashungurudza” among others.

Mwandimutsira told The Manica Post Weekender that fans will pay $40 and $70 local currency at the gate — EcoCash and Swipe will be available. Deejays Lampy, fondly known as Zkit and Libz Kartel will take turns to provide entertainment on the turntables before the gig that is expected to start at 8pm.

“Preparations are at advanced stage and we are happy that we managed to finish the renovations in time.

“The complex is spacious and we believe it will accommodate more than 2 000 people.

“We are putting up some final touches on the VIP section. I will be honoured to have these two celebrated artistes to be part of my birthday celebrations,” he said.
