EVERGREEN musician, Jah Prayzah, songstress, Feli Nandi and one of Zimbabwe’s most consistent musicians, ExQ, will tomorrow have a dance with their legion of fans when they perform for the first time together at Manicaland Motoring Club in Mutare.
It is surely an early Christmas present for pleasure seekers in the eastern border city as they will witness undiluted talent and finesse from the country’s finest entertainers, all on one turf.
Other artistes who are billed to perform at the event are Afro-jazz diva, Rutendo Jackie who will be backed by her Afro Blue Band; Ragga-manyika outfit, Assegai Crew as well as Black Firm Band, while on the turntables there will be DJs Spy, Varbee, Meek, Scratcher and Laurentino.
The event is set to draw together fanatics of various genres.
Jah Prayzah is currently bubbling high after he won the best male artiste gong in East, South and North Africa, beating heavyweights, Diamond Platinumz, Focalistic and Harmonize at the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA) ceremony held recently.
He is no doubt a performer par excellence.
The last time he performed at the venue late last year, Jah Prayzah and his Third Generation Band put up a flawless performance.
He is expected to light up the stage with the anthemic hit Chiremerera as well as other scorchers from his rich discography such as Kumbumuramhute, Jerusarema, Dangerous and Eriza, among other songs.
For Feli Nandi, this will be her maiden gig at the venue.
As her stock continues to rise, the silky-voiced artiste is expected to rise to the occasion and prove to thousands of revellers why she is the country’s current sought-after female musician.
Some of her sing-along songs include Mubayei, which features the Unveiled, NdoonaIwe and Nguva, among others.
As for ExQ who is now backed by a live band, he did not disappoint the last time he performed at the venue.
Popular among ladies, he is expected to wow fans with danceable and trendy songs such as Nezvangu, Try, Secure The Bag and Paya.
The seven-member Assegai Crew, led by affable bar owner and show promoter, Tawanda Chitsa, is expected to belt out a blend of old and new beats such as Kanyamakaripi and Tauyahe.
This is not the first time that the band has featured on such high profile shows.
The group delivered a scintillating performance when South African-based diva, Makhadzi, was the main performer early this year.
Chitsa said they were rehearsing hard to ensure that they give their fans good value for their money.
“We are excited to be among the star-studied artistes.
“The guys are ready to put up a sterling performance.
“We are working hard to make the day a memorable one with a well-choreographed act come Saturday,” he said.
Post Entertainment has established that unlike at previous shows, the event stage will be placed on the burn-outs area to create adequate space for ordinary, VIP and VVIP space.
The ordinary section will be stationed direct to the stage.
The VIP section will be on the left side of the stage, while the VVIP will be on the right side.
Mobile toilets will be available in all sections.
One of the organizers, Leslie Mwatongera, popularly known as DJ Spy, said preparations to host the mega event are at an advanced stage.
He quashed security fears saying revellers will be protected before, during and after the show by heavy security personnel.
“We are happy with the response the event has received so far. All is in place and we are urging people to buy their tickets early and arrive at the venue early to avoid inconveniences.
“Barricades separating VIP, VVIP and ordinary sections will be stronger, while several beer outlets and mobile toilets will be available in all sections. We are looking forward to a flawless event,” he said.
