Rusape based upcoming and talented sungura musician Jimmy ‘Jimalo’ Jagaji has released his debut album which has a huge potential to make an immediate impact in a genre that is of late lacking quality productions.

Jagaji’s offering entitled Zidanda Remoto has six tracks, which includes title track Zidanda Remoto, Handikunyeperi, Gombiro, Hallo, Kushandira Ngozi and Murume wangu. Zidanda Remoto was recorded at Diamond Studios and produced by the veteran Bothwell Nyamhondera.

Jimalo’s album is a well polished and distinct product which is very different from various upcoming sungura artistes who are notorious for copying established artistes.

All the songs are well arranged, mastered and mixed with a distinct and unique beat which is slightly dominated by the lead guitar which is played by Jagaji himself. In short, Jagaji has introduced a refreshening sungura sound.

The sound is accompanied by well meaning and deep lyrics with day to day life situations that people encounter.

The 35-year-old leader of the eight-member, More Fire Express band said he has high hopes that his first project will do well and position him among the top guns.

He further said that he put maximum effort and resources in coming up with the album and he expects to reap rich rewards.

“It was not an easy road for me to come up with this product. I have been in music for the last sixteen years playing for various groups until I assembled my own group.

I took so long to record my own album because of resource constrains but this also worked in my favour as I had ample time to perfect my album.

This album addresses a lot of societal issues such as love, misfortunes among others. Working with a person of Bothwell Nyamhondera’s nature really helped me and inspired me.
