A MUTARE man allegedly beds his different girlfriends on their matrimonial bed while his wife sleeps on the floor.

Having been fed up with her husband, Phinos Fushai’s uncouth behaviour, Mildred Fushai lugged him to court, applying for a protection order.

Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato granted the protection order to Mildred which is valid for a year.

He also advised her to sue Phinos’ girlfriends since they are legally married under Chapter 5.11 of the Marriage Act.

Mildred stated that Phinos was neglecting his family as well as bringing his girlfriends to their matrimonial home, forcing her to sleep on the floor.

She told the court that her husband does not consider that she is both a hypertension and diabetic patient.

“My husband knows that I suffer from hypertension and diabetes, but he does not take care for me or buy me the required medication.

“All he is capable of doing is bringing young women to our matrimonial home,” said Mildred.

“She said her husband forces her to accept and welcome her new lovers in their matrimonial home, yet they were wedded under Chapter 5.11 of the Marriage Act.

She said when she tries to engage his relatives over his unfaithfulness, he tells them that they had agreed that he will marry another wife.

“My husband always sells his relatives a dummy, claiming that we had agreed that he will marry another wife. We are legally married and I cannot bless such madness,” said Mildred.
She said at one point, she filed a report at Dangamvura Police Station against Phinos when he brought home two young women at the same time and kicked her out of the house.

“When police officers accompanied me to my house, he told them off. I was advised to seek alternative accommodation for my safety as Phinos had exhibited violent behaviour in the presence of the police officers. I went to one of my relatives and sought refuge there.

“I returned home after a week and found the ladies gone,” said Mildred.

She further said that her husband is no longer interested in her, but his girlfriends.

“My husband is no longer interested in me. We rarely spend time together. After work, he goes to his girlfriends and comes back home after some days with dirty clothes for me to wash them,” she said.

Phinos told the court that when he married Mildred, he told her that he will marry a second wife and they agreed to that arrangement.

He said he brought another woman home when Mildred was away.

He also claimed that he is taking care of his wife and family by buying them food as well as her medication.

He further stated that he constructed a big house for her at their rural home and installed solar panels.

“We agreed that after marrying her, I would marry a second wife. She told me that we should tie the knot first before marrying another woman. I am surprised that she is now shifting goalposts,” claimed Phinos.
