AN HIV positive Rusape maid, who was fully aware of her status, will spend the next 20 years behind bars after she sexually abused her employer’s juvenile grandson on several occasions.
Precious Chitseko (31) of Mhukayesango Village in Nyazura was not represented when she recently appeared before regional magistrate Mr Francis Mapfumo.
She was convicted after overwhelming evidence was presented in court.
Mr Mapfumo had no kind words for Chitseko whom he said her moral blameworthiness was very high, adding that she deserved a stiffer sentence.
The court did not suspend any part of the sentence.
State prosecutor Mr Tawanda Munjanja told the court that Chitseko took advantage of the absence of the juvenile’s grandmother to abuse him.
The juvenile’s age was estimated to be between 9 and 11 years.
“Chitseko and the juvenile are not related. On dates unknown to the prosecutor but during the period extending from 12 October 2020 to 09 November 2020, the juvenile was left in the custody of the accused person whilst his grandmother visited her daughter in Chegutu.
“During that period, the accused person had sexual intercourse with the complainant without his consent on several occasions.
“The matter only came to light when the complainant disclosed the matter to his grandmother on 26 February, 2021,” Mr Munjanja told the court.
