THE maiden Herentals soccer tournament will tomorrow (Saturday) roar to life with six Mutare-based soccer teams expected to battle for supremacy at Sakubva Primary School.

The college’s Mutare sports organiser, Tinashe Jambga confirmed in an interview that the potentially-exciting tournament will see teams Herentals, LA Sakubva, Chikanga, Dangamvura, Sheckon and Hobhouse competing.

Pool A teams comprises LA Sakubva, Herentals and Chikanga while Pool B pits Sheckon, Hobhouse and Dangamvura.

“Preparations are at an advanced stage and we are excited to host our maiden tournament that we expect to be full of pomp and fun fare. There will be lots of prizes to be won and we urge people from all walks of life to come in numbers and be part of the exciting edition. We are aware that all the teams playing in this competition are all good technically so we really expect a tough contest,” said Jambga.

The tournament will also go a long way in marketing Herentals Group of College, as a learning bastion as well as a formidable sporting entity that has seen Herentals Football College doing pretty well in the just-ended Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The tournament is sponsored by Herentals chief executive, Innocent Dambudzo Benza, affectionately known as ‘IB9’. He is expected to grace the tournament.
