TWO gun-totting robbers recently pounced on a Headlands service station and shot a fuel attendant, before vanishing with US$700.

The two unknown robbers approached Kumbirai Marozva (43) and Silence Makandiona (34) at Energy Park Service Station and demanded cash.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda, confirmed the robbery and said the suspects produced a firearm and threatened the two with death if they failed to comply with their instructions.

One of the robbers shot Marozva on the leg before forcing him to surrender US$700.

A passerby, Reuben Mawarire, reported the matter to the police but when the police arrived at the scene, the robbers had already vanished.

Marozva sustained serious wounds and was rushed to hospital.

Inspector Chananda said the two suspects are still at large and appealed to members of the public who might have information leading to the duo’s arrest to contact their nearest police station.

He urged businesspeople and individuals to desist from keeping large sums of money as this attracts robbers.

Meanwhile, a Chipinge man lost his Honda Fit vehicle to gun-wielding armed robbers on the same day.

Takesure Serena of Chief Ngorima’s area was parked at Peacock Business Centre when he was approached by the robbers.

“One of the robbers knocked on the window and Chiunda opened it. The suspect pointed a pistol at him and dragged him out of the vehicle. He took over the car keys and drove away towards Charter Estate. Chiunda is yet to recover his vehicle,” said Inspector Chananda.

lnvestigations are underway.
