The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Cde Felix Mhona, his deputy Cde Mike Madiro and three legislators from Makoni, today visited two bridges along Mwarazi River that were washed away by the flooded river, cutting Headlands Constituency into two inaccessible halves.

Mwarazi Bridge is barely 1.5km from the Mutare-Harare highway along the Chiendambuya Road, while Chinyudze Bridge is along the Headlands-Maparura road that passes through Chinyudze Business Centre.

The southern part of Headlands and Makoni North are inaccessible from the rest of Makoni district, disrupting the smooth flow of the grain food relief, agricultural inputs distribution, Covid-19 and other health programmes.

Cde Mhona said within the next 10 days contractors would have been selected and should be on site, to resume works.

Cde Mhona said five construction companies have, so far, expressed interest in the jobs.
