Mutare’s rising gospel diva Fortunate Siziba has released a new single which castigates childhood marriages and sexual abuse.

The song ‘‘Zvipo’’ features Trevor Dongo and is accompanied by a video which was shot in Mutare’s scenic areas.

To date, Siziba (29) has produced three singles.

Her first single — ‘‘Muzita RaJesu’’ — was released in 2017. In 2018 she released ‘‘Tinokurumbidzai’’.

The singles received favourable airplay and topped gospel charts on various radio stations.

In April this year, Siziba went on to release her debut album titled ‘‘Be Glorified’’.

Some of the songs on the album include ‘‘Pihwai Mbiri’’, ‘‘Heal Our Land’’, ‘‘Taura Ndakateerera’’, ‘‘Ndiregerere’’, ‘‘Muzita RaJesu’’, ‘‘Tinokurumbidzai’’, ‘‘Tumai Kubwinya’’ and ‘‘Ndionesei’’.

“I include the social issues that affect society in my music,” explained Siziba.

“I am encouraged by the rave reviews that ‘Zvipo’ has received. The song tackles the challenges that children are facing in their day-to-day lives, including child abuse, child marriages, ritual killings as well as lack of parental guidance.

‘‘These matters require the world’s attention because children are the future,” she said.

The budding artiste is also working on collaborations with local and international gospel musicians.

“I will soon tour the country to market my music and minister the word of God through music. Despite all the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, I have recorded more wins than losses.

“I have had time to reflect, write and record music. I have also managed to engage with my fans on social media platforms.

‘‘I thank God for the support I am getting from my fans and family,” she said. Siziba is currently pursuing her studies with the University of Zimbabwe.
