MUTARE’S upcoming talented tennis players Tatenda Chivengah and Tashinga Mtisi gave a good account of themselves when they settled for second and fifth positions respectively in the first of the double-legged ITF CAT 14s and Under tournament which ended at Bulawayo Country Club on Sunday.
Their doubles combination saw the St Dominic’s pupils going all the way to semis.
The tournament drew participants from different countries that include hosts Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Egypt, Botswana, Namibia and Kenya.
Fellow Mutare tennis player in the boys category Tendekai Musabaeka settled for 14th position.
In the girls’ category , Thandiwe Nkala was the best performer among players from the eastern border city after she settled for 14th position, while Shantel Lunga came 15th.
Another Mutare-based player, Tyra Mufute was 16th.
Tinotenda Chipfakacha and Rachel Mhozha, both from Mutare, came out 19th and 21st, respectively.
Both the girls and boys categories had 32 participants apiece.
