AWAY from his maize farming escapades, among other income-generating projects that are chewing most of his time, award-winning gospel musician, Blessing Shumba has broken his silence and has revealed that a new album titled “Ndimweya” is ready to be served.

Shumba has composed and recorded over 400 songs in the past two years and now faces the headache to choose only 10 tracks to put on the forthcoming album. Adding further to the intricate circumstance Shumba is in, he has a prepared ten-track album titled “Kings of Kings” that comprise only English songs.

He revealed that there is a possibility that he might release the two albums concurrently the way Charles and Olivia Charamba did on their albums “Abba Father” and “Voice of Miriam” respectively.

All songs on “Ndimweya” were produced at Psalmist Studios by Charles Ayibeki, Joseph Makiwa and Olin Anderson. Shumba’s wife, Pauline is the only musician featuring on the album. Songs on the “Ndimweya” album, just like on his previous projects, seeks to inspire and uplift souls of the dejected and hopeless drawing listeners to God.

“‘Ndimweya’ and ‘Kings of Kings’ are both ready. But some of the songs might be added or omitted before the final projects hit the streets. I did not release any album last year because we wanted to rest and take time to come up with polished projects — something we are associated with. Our listeners have been faithful and patient and this is my present to them. If I am to release a double album, ‘Ndimweya’ will carry Shona songs only, while Kings of Kings will carry English songs only. My producers as well as members of the management teams at Psalmist Studios faced torrid times to come up with a compilation contained on the projects,” said Shumba.

By releasing “Kings of Kings”, the gifted lyricist will be eyeing regional market as his brand is slowly being appreciated in countries such as Malawi, Zambia, South Africa and Botswana. He last released “My Season” in May 2017, an album that saw plug tracks, “Changa Chakajaira” and “Tariro Ichiripo” coming up first and second in Coca Cola Radio Zimbabwe Top 50.

“Changa Chakajaira” was derived from Psalms 145 verse 15 where it reads: “The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due time.”
