EASTERN Region Division One log leaders Manica Diamonds make a long trip to Chisumbanje for a date with unpredictable new boys Green Fuels in a ZIFA Eastern Region Division One league tie on Saturday.

Manica Diamonds are hoping to maintain their grip on the log table. Luke Masomere’s men got off to a good start in their maiden campaign after winning eight of their 10 matches.

Manica Diamonds remain unbeaten since the start of the 2018 league race and tops the standings on 26 points, four points ahead of second placed Tenax FC.

The “Gem Boys” as Manica Diamonds are affectionately known, will  go into the match with their confidence high following a 3-1 victory over Masvingo United last Saturday which saw them maintain their  top spot on the league table. This weekend they will be looking forward to add more points to their tally.

As they prepare for the showdown against Green Fuels, head coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere believes his charges are ready for battle.

“We respect every team in our league. We are prepared to go to Chisumbanje. We are prepared for good results. I know Green Fuels is a new but good side which has good players. We respect them but my boys are ready to battle it out. We are leading the tables and our target is to continue leading the pack,” he said.

Green Fuels are yet to taste any defeat. They are on third position with 22 points. They are coming from a 1-1 draw against Zero One One and will be seeking to stop the ‘Gem Boys’ from collecting maximum points.

Elsewhere, second placed Tenax FC, who beat Melfort 3-1 has an away fixture against Masvingo United with Shaddy Mugurasave’s Buffaloes being hosted by Melfort.

United Lions will date Mwenezana while Gutu FC will play host to Prime Rangers. Renco Mine will face Surrey at Renco Mine stadium while Bikita Minerals entertain Masvingo Pirates. Chipinge based Gaza Gunners will play against Zero One One.
