MUTARE City Council is failing to collect garbage, repair roads and attend to burst sewerage pipelines because of a critical shortage of fuel.

The local authority said in  a recent notice that it was failing to procure fuel since most suppliers were demanding foreign currency which it does not have.

“We are finding it difficult to procure fuel for service delivery because almost all suppliers are demanding to be paid in United States dollars. Council charges its services in local currency while fuel is sold in foreign currency. We appeal to residents and stakeholders to bear with us while we are pursuing other avenues to address the challenges,” reads the statement
