CONSTRUCTION of a community hall meant to house income generating projects will soon be constructed for Cyclone Idai survivors in Machongwe area in Chimanimani as Angle of Hope Foundation continues touching lives in disadvantaged communities.

The ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the community hall was conducted by First Lady Amai Auxcilia Mnangagwa today.

Angel of Hope Foundation founder and patron Amai Manangagwa, who also handed over kitchen utensils and clothes to survivors of Cyclone Idai in Machongwe at the same function, said the hall will be constructed with help of partners overseas.

“I really want to start by thanking His Excellency President Mnangagwa who spends time alone as he accepts to give me time to carry out this charity work. It is really nice of him.

“Let me say, the construction of the community hall will soon start and it will be done with the assistance of overseas partners.

“I hope that upon its completion, the hall will improve livelihoods and it will also be well taken care of,” she said.

First Lady Amai Mnangagwa thanked the Christian community for chipping in with assistance towards relief efforts in Chimanimani after Cyclone Idai.

“I heard the girl who was singing here saying where do I get the power to carry out charity work. The answer is that I get that power from prayers by ladies from different churches, some represented here.

“I really want to thank these ladies for their passion and selflessness when it comes to giving to the needy. You should have seen how they sacrificed time and effort to get here after their bus had a mechanical fault when they were almost here. I really want to thank you,” said Amai Mnangagwa.
Speaker after speaker from the church representatives hailed Amai Mnangagwa for her philanthropy.

Apostolic Faith Mission ladies national secretary Mrs Lucky Musasa said Amai Mnangagwa is a unifier.

“Ladies from different churches were moved by the plea to assist by the First Lady and accordingly chipped in with utensils, clothes and groceries. We were moved because of her humility and unifying approach. As we speak, ladies from different churches are now signing common hymns all because of the unifying work Amai Mnangagwa has done. We will continue praying for you Amai hoping to see you continue carrying out this marvelous work, ” said Mrs Musasa.
