From Lovemore Kadzura in Rusape
A RUSAPE vendor was recently arrested for selling fake fertiliser packaged in counterfeit Zimbabwe Fertiliser Company bags to unsuspecting farmers.
Norbert Taurai Chinyowa (31) of Number VE 239, Vengere pleaded not guilty to violating Section 84 (1) (f)(iii) of the Trademarks Act, Chapter 26:04 which prohibits the forgery of registered trademarks when he appeared before magistrate, Ms Patience Ururu Madondo. Public prosecutor, Mr Gift Mutigwa, told the court that police detectives in partnership with loss control officers from ZFC raided vendors at Rusape Bus Terminus and found Chinyowa with 7x50kgs of fake fertiliser packed in counterfeit ZFC bags.
Ms Madondo adjourned the matter to May 2 for continuation of trial.
