FORMER Mutare City Rovers defender Lincoln “Zvasiya” Mangaira has found a new home after penning a two-year deal with Triangle FC.

The Mutare-born young defender signed the deal last week, which will see him play for the club until 2021.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Mangaira expressed his delight at eventually bouncing back into the top flight after playing for City Rovers in the Premier League two years ago. He has his sights set on further opportunities at national  team.

“It’s a great feeling. I signed a two-year contract with Triangle FC. I am enjoying everything about my new club. I hope to perform to my best ability.

“I cannot wait to don that green and gold jersey. I have been at Mutare City Rovers for a while and everyone’s goal is to sign for a better club. Now, it is about working hard and continuing to develop. My main goal is getting into the first team.

He started his career at Sheni Primary School in Dangamvura in 2000. He said his father,  Noah, who was a goalkeeper for Eastern Highlands, encouraged him to take up the sport.

He continued with soccer at Dangamvura High School before joining Dangamvura United in 2015. He only played for six months before drawing the attention of Mutare City Rovers. He has been one of the key players at the municipal-owned side. His younger brother, Roy, graduated from Manica Diamonds Juniors, a Division Two outfit to Manica Diamonds FC.

Triangle FC coach Taurai Mangwiro said Mangaira is a direct replacement for Donald Dzvinyai, who left for FC   Platinum.

“We have signed quite a lot of players including young Mangaira. We feel they will be able to add value to the team. He is a direct replacement for Donald Dzvinyai. These players have to work hard for them to be included in the first team. We started training a fortnight ago and it has been going on very well.

“Things are shaping up. We want to remain a competitive team in the league. We have lost a lot of players but we will embrace the ones that are coming in and move on,” he said.

Other players that the club has signed include striker Ralph Matema from Yadah FC, midfielder Shepherd Gadzikwa from Hwange FC, defender James Mukombwe from Black Rhinos, defender Kevin Gwavo from FC Makaha former ZPC Kariba goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya.

The club has also parted ways with Kudzai Chigwida, Nyasha Chintuli, Chang Marion, Anelka Chivandire and Ralph Kawondera who have joined other  clubs.

They have also released Mutare-born Pasca Manhanga, Praise Tonha, Simba Makoni and Tapiwa Chilanga.
