IT is Dangamvura again!

The sprawling suburb of Dangamvura has continued hogging the limelight for good reasons in the entertainment industry.

It is home to Queen of Amapiano and songstress, Shasha, Germany-based reggae star, I-Finton, gospel artiste, Agatha Murudza and sungura-cum-gospel singer, Hosiah Chipanga to mention, but a few celebrities who have helped put the suburb on the entertainment map.

Despite the turmoil brought about to the entertainment industry by the Covid-19 pandemic, Dangamvura’s own jewel and fast rising singer, Mystery, recently raised the eastern border city’s flag high after coming second in the StarBrite Zimbabwe 2021 competition.

Mystery, born Nigel Musa (pictured right), shrugged off stiff competition from hundreds of contestants, most of them with sublime singing skills from across the country to be the second best performer.

The Afro-pop singer’s silky voice and lyrical ingenuity charmed a panel of adjudicators with many songs that include a love ballad, “Chido Chemoyo”.

The song which has since received rave reviews on social media circles has left many music pundits foretelling a bright future to the lad who has other compositions.

Speaking through his manager, Brandon Magada, the 26-year-old musician said: “It is encouraging to be recognised nationally like this. We are so excited. Glory be to God.

“This is quite a milestone and we feel motivated to do more. It was a tough journey. We were competing against equally talented performers from across the country. We are now focusing on releasing a full album that should be ready by December,” he said.

Born March 7, 1995, Mystery did his primary education at Rujeko Primary School.

He moved to Dangamvura High School where he did his secondary education. He went on to enrol for A-Level at Cross Power and Royal academies respectively.

He was born in a family of four, with him being the third child.
He has actively participated in his church’s praise and worship team and has done solo performances at weddings, birthdays and other public functions.

His professional career started when he was 22 when he released his first single, “Oh My”.

He has so far released songs such as “Hold On”, “You and Me”, “Chizevezeve” and “Superwoman” which have been widely accepted in his community and beyond. He also did a cover for “Munyaradzi”, originally done by contemporary artiste, Jah Prayzah which did well and received positive comments because of its unique vibe and his creativity.

His music is produced by Trapper, a Mutare-based producer, and has had songs produced by the likes of Terry Obama, as well as Rodney.

He added: “We are currently working on a new song and video titled “Zvinoita” which is due for release next month.

“We feel encouraged by the support we have been getting from our fans from Mutare and beyond. For us to achieve this feat, it was because of them.”
