As soon as the Kingdom Embassy leader — Passion Java — posted on social media that he was in Nyazura on his way to Mutare, hordes of his followers started crowding around areas they thought he would visit.

Some drove to Christmas Pass, while others gathered near the self-proclaimed prophet’s church in Mutare’s central business district to give him a “grand welcome”.

When his entourage reached Mutare’s CBD around 10am, chaos reigned supreme and his bodyguards had a torrid time controlling the swelling crowd that was pushing and shoving to catch a glimpse of the prophet.

Java’s fetish for cars was also exhibited through a cavalcade of top-of-the-range vehicles that included the latest Mercedes Benz and Range Rovers with panoramic roofs.

Business was brought to a halt when the convoy drove along Herbert Chitepo Street, with Java waving to onlookers through the panoramic roof.

This was Java’s first visit to the eastern border city in years and the Man of cloth did not hide how he was charmed by the ambience of the picturesque City of Mutare.

It was clear that scores of people who followed the socialite were expecting the “golden moment” that would see him splurging some greenbacks as he recently did in Harare.

However, that never happened.

“He had plans to splash money to hundreds of people and assist those with different challenges, but this couldn’t happen as some skirmishes caused by a few rogue elements forced him to change his programme.

“Java is a peace loving guy. He had to abruptly abandon his tour and drive back to Harare after the skirmishes,” said Java’s friend, Clyde Jani, who was among the bouncers.

Java’s itinerary included a visit to Africa University, Mutare’s CBD and Vumba, where he was scheduled to spend the night.

In one of the skirmishes, Java was allegedly soiled with a mixture of brake fluid, mud, water and urine by controversial socialite, Heaven “Shortie” Chihono, after the latter accused him of causing unnecessary mayhem in the city.

Although Chihono refused to entertain questions from The Weekender, he was quoted in the media saying, “I mixed brake fluid, mud, water and urine and poured the mixture on him. I poured the mixture after disarming one of his bodyguards.”

Java confirmed the incident.

“I did not visit to throw money like confetti on a wedding. I was disturbed by an incident that happened earlier on today (last Friday) in Mutare.

“Someone soiled me for reasons better known to himself. Luckily the police came to my rescue. However, I am what I am because of my enemies and haters. For life to balance, you need people who like and hate you.

“Despite that, I will always love Mutare. I will continue visiting this place whenever I feel like coming to the Eastern Highlands,” he said.

Java also had an interview on Zimpapers’ commercial radio station, Diamond FM.

Said Java: “I have brought something new for all Zimbabweans. I created something called ‘The Rising Star’, where one calls and sings. Talented and lucky people will be selected and meet other aspiring singers across the region.”
