A RUSAPE grandpa (67) on Monday decided to cut his life shortly by consuming a pesticide after he had an altercation with his wife over an undisclosed issue.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident which happened in Musika Village in Chief Makoni’s area.
He said the deceased, Gilbert Musika had earlier revealed to his neighbours and friends that he was distressed, and that his wife was the source of his woes.
He told them about his intentions to commit suicide.
“On November 14, Gilbert’s mother, Stella (87) saw him vomiting blood and writhing in agony in his room. Gilbert revealed to her that he had had an altercation with his wife, Maud Musika over an undisclosed issue. He also revealed that he had consumed some poisonous substance.
“They searched the room and saw an empty container of a pesticide. They ferried him to St Theresa Mission Hospital before he was transferred to Rusape District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
No foul play is suspected.
