LOCAL show promoters – Blackrose Entertainment – will tomorrow (Saturday) host an array of wheel spinners alongside Harare-based entertainer DJ Simz in a gig dubbed “End of Year Shutdown Gig” at Afripot Bar & Grill. The show, organisers said, would see local listed deejays from various entertainment centres from the eastern border city clashing.

“It will be a busy night for more than 10 Mutare-based deejays who will clash on the turntables. They will definitely heighten the festive mood,” said one of the organisers.

The gig starts at 8pm till the last man drops. Meanwhile, gospel artiste Jairos Mutambikwa will launch his new album, “Awesome God” at Courtauld Theatre. He will be supported by local and regional artistes such as Rumbi Zvirikuzhe, Blessing Shumba, Brian Samaita, Mai Makoni,  Apostle Blessing Makomeya, Chris Dave Dudu (DRC), Caleb Markus Ladar (Nigeria), Simbarashe Kadzere and Emmanuel Choir from DRC.

“We are looking forward to having a blissful album launch. The inclusion of celebrated local artistes such as Blessing Shumba as well as Democratic Republic of Congo artistes makes the launch a special one,” he said.

The eight-track soulful album was released last month. Tracks on the project include ‘‘Awesome God’’, ‘‘Ndichaivaka Church’’, ‘‘Humambo’’, ‘‘Pasi Idandaro’’, ‘‘Dzokerai Panzvimbo’’ and ‘‘Nganditungamirirwe’’.  The gifted musician launched his musical career in 2001 at United Methodist Church Hilltop where he was a member of the church choir which recorded two albums.
