LAST Saturday’s Diamond FM Winter warmer gig held at Chancellor Primary School in Mutare lived up to billing after artistes took turns to put up top drawer performances in front of scores of people who thronged the school grounds.

Although star of the show, Mathias Mhere performed last, he left fans, who waited patiently for the “Favour” hit-maker till around 6:30pm, clamouring for more.

His well-choreographed act on stage captivated hearts of many.

Benjamin Chimoyo’s “Royal Trumpet” was also one of the top acts after they touched hearts of many after performing popular songs such as “Ngwarira Nyoka”, “Baba ndauyawo”, “Chula” and chart-buster “Ndione”.

One of the reasons that made the event memorable were the improved performances of artistes such as Murigo, Dorcas Moyo and Chimoyo whose performances had tremendously improved compared to last year’s.

Kudzi Nyakudya and Whitney Ngorima did not disappoint either.

The well-attended gig created a beautiful bonding for Diamond FM listeners and presenters.

The event which was open for all also created a platform for families to mix and mingle with their favourite artistes.

Diamond FM station manager, Jabulani ‘JB’ Mangezi, said: “We would like to thank our listeners for the immense support they gave us during the show. It was encouraging to note that we have the backing of the people of Mutare and as a local radio station, we will continue churning out programmes that are relevant to tour audience.”

Artistes interviewed thanked the radio station for offering such a platform.

“The experience was good. We enjoyed being exposed to a larger crowd for the second time.

“We enjoyed sharing stage with more established artistes like Mathias Mhere and Kudzi Nyakudya.

“We also made connections with other gospel artistes and made arrangements for collaborations,” he said.
