MBENDE-Jerusarema dance specialists Dhumatasangana will represent Manicaland at the Chibuku Neshamwarai traditional dance national finals after they out-danced nine other groups at the provincial competitions held last Saturday at Dangamvura Neighbourhood Tavern.

The group walked away with $500 while Penhalonga-based group Ben “Arinoti” and “Charurwa” who were seated on second and third positions respectively walked away with $300 and $150.

Dhumatasangana now shifts their focus to the potentially-explosive national fiesta which will be held on local turf, Mutare Showgrounds on August 4 2018. The group leader Thulani Hombarume said they will not be intimidated by other provincial finalists. “This is a dream come true. It was a tight competition but we managed to sail through. We are now preparing for a fierce national competition which we believe will be a tougher contest. We will not be intimidated,” he said.

National Arts Council Manicaland provincial administration officer Silibaziso Mguni said: “It was yet another successful contest which every group deserved to win. We would like to wish Dhumatasanga when they face other provincial representatives.”
