Dangamvura’s Area 14 continues to be a force to reckon with in the showbiz industry.

First, Charmaine Shamiso “Sha Sha” Mpambiro grabbed international headlines early this year after she became the first Zimbabwean to bag a BET Award.

Barely five months after Sha Sha’s grand achievement, Mutare is back on the limelight. This time, Germany-based artiste — Finton “I-Finton” Mumbure — scored a first in Germany after he became the first Zimbabwean to qualify for the Voice of Germany’s sing-off stage.

The Zimbabwean artiste is part of the 40 people selected from the initial 35 000 people who were part of the competition when it started.

Speaking from his base in Germany last week, the silky-voiced artiste whose creativity and versatility has taken international showbiz by storm, said he is proud to lift the country’s flag high.

“This is the 10th season of Voice of Germany. I am now going into the third stage, which is the sing-off stage, and I am really grateful for the opportunity.

“I am honoured and I feel like a winner. I am extremely excited and the rest that will come will be a bonus. I am happy to be representing Mutare and Zimbabwe. Eight people will proceed to the semi-finals, while two people will battle it out in the finals,” he said.

He discouraged upcoming artistes from giving up on their dreams.

“There are a lot of talented artistes in Zimbabwe and I urge them to stay focused and be determined. Patience and perseverance are critical, especially in the arts industry.

“As for me, I will continue working hard and I believe more doors will continue opening through these opportunities,” he said.

I-Finton and Sha Sha’s dwellings are just a stone’s throw away from each other and his selection came a few days after another Zimbabwean-18-year-old Blessing Chitapa won The Voice UK 2020.
