PREPARATIONS for the Manicaland corporate social responsibility provincial awards slated for next Friday, July 20, at Golden Peacork Villa Hotel which will see companies in the province being awarded for outstanding corporate social responsibility programmes are at an advanced stage.
The awards which are spearheaded by a Harare-based organisation Corporate Social Responsibility Network Zimbabwe (CSRNZ) will see companies being honoured in more than 20 categories.
CSRNZ is a professional multi-stakeholder organisation established with the aim to advance best principles and practices of corporate social responsibility in the public and private sector with the ultimate goal of supporting sustainable businesses, which will contribute to sustainable economic growth leading to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
CSR Network Zimbabwe executive director Mr Willard Razawo said preparations were at an advanced stage.
“Corporate Social Responsibility Responsibility Network Zimbabwe together with Government through the office of Minister of State for Manicaland provincial affairs will be awarding companies in the province that have been exemplary with corporate social investment projects that are making the biggest impact on communities and the lives of its beneficiaries. Preparations are at an advanced stage and we would like to urge companies operating in Manicaland region to submit a brief of their corporate social responsibility projects for consideration,” he said.
The organisation will descend to Mutare and other provinces for the first time before holding the national finals in November.
Companies will be honoured in categories such as Most CSR Initiative – Energy, Excellence in marketplace, Excellence in Workplace, Excellence in community – partnership with charity, Excellence in community – Volunteering, Excellence in Supporting youth employment and financial inclusion, Beacon award for philanthropy, Best Media house reporting and promoting csr initiatives and top media journalists reporting on CSR.
Delta Beverages, Tongaat Hullet Zimbabwe, Seedco, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe are some of the companies that were previously honoured at the national awards.
