MINISTER of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, has hailed the Johanne the 5th of Africa International Church for supporting Government efforts in promoting unity and socio-economic development in the province.
Speaking at the church’s special prayer day last Sunday, Minister Mugadza said the church’s efforts should be applauded and emulated by other religious organisations.
“I want to commend the church for its outstanding work in fostering unity and promoting socio-economic development in our communities. The church’s support for Government programmes is truly appreciated, and we look forward to continue the collaboration. The church’s initiatives have made significant impact on the lives of many people, and its commitment to community development is truly commendable,” he said.
Minister Mugadza said Government is grateful for the partnership with the church, and looks forward to working together to achieve even greater things, since about 50 percent of the population is affiliated with apostolic sect churches.
“The church is a very important institution in the society for instilling biblical values and discipline. No wonder why our national Constitution guarantees freedom of worship. Furthermore, the church plays an integral role in socio-economic development. Its work also includes teaching youths to shun drug and substance abuse, resultantly promoting a healthy and conflict-free society,” he said.
Minister Mugadza also expressed gratitude to the church’s resounding support for President Mnangagwa during and after the 2023 harmonised elections.
“I am proud to acknowledge that Johanne the 5th of Africa Church fully supports the Government, and let me thank you for standing with President Mnangagwa, before, during and after all the elections in which ZANU PF won resoundingly,” he said.
He also acknowledged the church’s prayers for President Mnangagwa’s assumption of the SADC Chairmanship.
“Government’s vision is underpinned by the mantra of leaving no one and no place behind as we drive towards the attainment of Vision 2030 of a prosperous and empowered middle income society as led by President Mnangagwa. Government cannot afford to you leave you behind in its development programmes. You will continue to strengthen your space in Government programmes as guided by the Holy Spirit,” he said.
The church’s founder, Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu said they are partnering with Government as the church has a role to promote socio-economic development.
He also said his church will continue to support Government programmes, particularly promoting tourism, investment and social development.
