THREE cases of cholera were today confirmed in Buhera and Makoni districts forcing the Ministry of Health and Child Care to dispatch rapid response teams across the province to contain the spread of the disease.

The Provincial Medical Director (PMD) Dr Patron Mafaune said the ministry was on high alert as medicine and other supplies were being mobilised and dispatched to affected communities.

“I can confirm that three cholera cases have been detected in the province, two cases were recorded in Buhera and one in Makoni. All three cases are being managed at our district hospitals and are in stable conditions,” said Dr Mafaune.

Dr Mafaune said emergency preparedness teams were dispatched in the province and on high alert for new outbreaks.

However, reports of cholera in Mutasa district have been dismissed.
