Caught pants down!

PANDEMONIUM reigned supreme in Hobhouse suburb of Mutare last week on Friday after the head of ancillary staff at a local teachers’ college was caught pants down with a married woman in her matrimonial bedroom by his lover’s husband.

Residents were treated to the free drama, which at one time saw the cornered Peter Makaha bolting from the house semi-naked.

Although Makaha tried to summon the little Usain Bolt magic in his tired limps to save him, this was all in vain as the crowd caught up with him and gave him a bashing and force-marched him to their love nest.

A video clip of the scantily dressed Makaha has since gone viral on the social media, with viewers despising cheating couples.

It is alleged that Makaha was between the sheets with Patrick Tumbare’s wife, only identified as Mai Tumbare.

The two were enjoying quality time in broad daylight when Tumbare who usually comes back home late at night surprised them by returning unexpectedly.

The Weekender learnt Tumbare arrived home around midday and found the doors locked.

He was about to leave for the beerhall assuming that no one was home before he heard groans of pleasure coming from his bedroom.

The man is alleged to have peeped through his bedroom window and witnessed his wife in between the sheets with Makaha.

They were both naked.

“Out of anger, Sekuru Tumbare broke the windowpanes before the cheats hurriedly abandoned the act. He demanded that they open the doors, but the cheating duo refused and remained holed in the bedroom. When they eventually opened the door, Makaha tried to escape, but Sekuru Tumbare cornered him and gave him a thorough bashing. That is when the mob joined and descended heavily on Makaha,” said Charity Jiri, a neighbour to the Tumbares.

Another neighbour, Zviko Sabhera said when they saw Tumbare assaulting Makaha, they thought the latter was a thief who had been caught stealing.

“At first we thought that he was a thief who had been caught in the Tumbares’ house because Mbuya Tumbare is a very quiet and seemingly sweet person whom we never suspected of cheating on her husband.

 

“When we saw Sekuru Tumbare assaulting Makaha, we joined in and started shouting that thieves should be dealt with. We only got to know that he had been caught pants down after his pair of underwear fell from his pair of trousers. He had no time to dress properly when they were disturbed by Sekuru Tumbare’s arrival,” laughed the neighbour.

Makaha was later stripped naked and force-marched across the suburb by the mob before police from Hobhouse Police Base intervened.

The police who were led by one Sergeant Mutonhodzi tried to disperse the mob but failed as the angry people were baying for Makaha’s blood.

“After work, Sekuru Tumbare usually goes to Mbetsa Business Centre for some drinks before heading home at night. Mbuya Tumbare would bring in her lover and enjoyed herself during that time. I would see the man entering their premises occasionally and thought he was their relative.

 

“Mbuya Tumbare told us that Makaha was an uncle. Mbuya Tumbare is a very quiet businessperson who operates a flea market at Moto Moto in town and we never suspected such acts from her. However, we realised that she is human like all of us,” said another neighbour who requested for anonymity.

When The Weekender visited the Tumbare’s home on Wednesday, new windowpanes had just been installed.

The news crew’s knocks went unanswered even though someone could be seen peeping through the curtains from inside the house.

In a phone call interview, Sekuru Tumbare rubbished the whole story and described it as unfounded for social media rumours.

“It is the work of the social media. They are all lies. Nothing of that sort happened. People are busy cooking up stories and videos which they are circulating online. It is the work of drunkards. They are the ones who stripped Makaha naked and stole his phones. They are all lies, do not write lies,” said Tumbare.

A close relative to the Tumbares said the woman had brought shame to the family.

“If the windows are open, then she is inside and will not answer you. That is how she has been acting these days, but the husband is trying to cover up everything because he cannot bear the shame and embarrassment. She has embarrassed us and the family,” said the relative.

Contacted for comment, Makaha said the video was meant to tarnish his and Tumbare’s good reputations.

“The truth is that I was seated with Tumbare outside his home when some drunkards came and stripped me. I lost my phones, but I do not care about pressing charges. After all the police never recover stolen goods. I will also not report them for stripping me naked and assaulting me because I do not care about it,” he said.

However, in one of the videos, Tumbare was seen with a bloodied, yet naked Makaha. Makaha was begging Tumbare to disperse the crowd and deal with the issue in private.

“Ngatitaure tiri tega Pati (Patrick). Usadeedze vanhu (Let’s solve this issue alone without the intervention of other people,” he is heard pleading in the video.

“Pinda, ndiri kuda kutodeedza mukadzi wangu (Get inside the house, I want to call my wife),” responded Tumbare.

Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said no report was made to the police.
