MUTARE businessman, Ernest Taurai Mungwari (71) and Mary Njokwe (34) who were yesterday arrested for allegedly obstructing the course of justice have been released on $150 bail each.
The two appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Tendai Mahwe, today on charges of contravening Section 184 (1) (e) of Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 09:23.
Mr Mahwe ordered the duo not to interfere with state witnesses.
They will be back in the dock on November 20.
Mr Nyasha Mukonyora prosecuted.
The court heard that on Sunday the suspects hired touts and blocked detectives from confiscating smuggled goods which had been recovered from Njokwe’s shop in Sakubva.
With the assistance of the touts the contraband was loaded into two vehicles, a Toyota D4D and a Landrover.
