Popular Mutare businessman, Kumbirai Khumbula, who runs a chain of retail outlets in the city has been shot dead by armed robbers who stormed his Darlington residence this morning.
Detectives from the homicide section are currently at the crime scene carrying out investigations.
Cops privy to the incident said the heist occured at around 5am.
The robbers tied the businessman’s family and some church members who were at the house for an all night prayer.
It is still unclear why the robbers shot him but unconfirmed reports suggests that the deceased had managed to identify one of the assailants.
