ZIFA Eastern Region Division One championship chasing army outfit Buffaloes goalkeeper Chenge Tandadzai – whose self-praising voice notes are a common feature in various Mutare football social media groups – thinks his team now has nine out of 10 chances of reclaiming its place in the Castle Lager Premiership.
Buffaloes, who are in their third Premiership promotion campaign after being relegated twice from the domestic football top-flight league, will be in a tricky tie against Ruwa this weekend at the same date and time that fellow championship chasing duo of FC Makaha and Tenax lock horns in Mutoko. All matches will be played on Sunday at 3pm.
Only three rounds of league matches remain before the curtain comes down of the 2019 season with Buffaloes nemesis in this year’s campaign being inconsistent correctional services outfit Tenax and FC Makaha.
Buoyed by his team’s 2-0 triumph over Grayham coupled with Tenax’s one all stalemate with Mutare City Rovers over the weekend, Tandadzai now believes the race is no longer in the Mutare correctional services team’s hands.
“I think we are almost there. In fact, we have nine out of 10 chances of clinching the Zifa Eastern Region Division One title for 2019. I thought they should have made sure they will not drop points anymore and hold on to the lead. But as things stand, we have a much better chance. Remember Tenax will play Mkaha and I do see Tenax winning that game away from home when they failed to win against Mutare City Rovers at home. Makaha mathematically are also still in the race,” said Tandadzai.
