IF there is one thing that we can all be sure about in this life we live, it is the fact that all things come to an end at some point.

Who would have ever known that the time would come for this other unethical law enforcer to finally leave our beautiful city and head for a remote destination with sun-baked soils in a dry part of this province.

Motorists, especially those operating public transport businesses, will obviously heave a huge sigh of relief to learn that the guy is no longer on the streets.

Vendors, who quaked in their shoes at his sight, will surely believe in the existence of the Almighty when they learn of his departure from our beautiful city.

Blabber is humane and does not celebrate people’s misfortunes or times of adversity, but who can dispute the fact that while our dear brother used to collect hard currency kickbacks, he will now be collecting softeners in the form of roadrunners?

Indeed, while he used to patronise different upmarket eateries as he lavishly blew up proceeds of corruption, he will now have to be content with backyard cafes where one can be served while seated on a tree stump seat.

Back then, when Blabber penned about his shenanigans, Yours Truly opted to identify him as a bell because his surname rhymes like that.

The law enforcer was a law unto himself.

He literally personalised a State law enforcement vehicle which at one point he even repaired at his own cost after being involved in an accident.

Back then, Blabber noticed with utter shock and disgust how this good-for-nothing chap used skin lightening lotions for reasons best to none but himself.

As we bid him farewell, Yours Truly hopes this is a chance for him to reflect and mend his ways, most probably deal with his weakness for sweetness that was getting the better of him after he deserted his wife and moved out of his matrimonial home.

More importantly, Blabber hopes he will also learn a few lessons on how to co-exist with others with mutual respect, empathy and self-restraint.

This also serves as a big lesson to those getting into his shoes, they too should conduct themselves in a way that opens opportunities even for their children long after they are gone.

All things come to an end, such is life.
