SEASONED Sakubva-bred duo Onismor Bhasera and Washington Arubi have joined the Warriors camp in Harare as Zimbabwe prepare to take on South Africa and Ethiopia in 2022 FIFA World Cup Group G qualifiers.

The pair was among the first batch of players to arrive.

A 26-member squad was called up for national duty.

Their call-up marks the rekindling of the goalkeeper and left-back’s romance with the senior men’s soccer team.

Arubi kept goals for the Warriors at the COSAFA Cup competition staged in South Africa last month, while Bhasera was involved in the last two qualifiers for the 2021 AFCON finals as Zimbabwe secured a ticket to the biennial jamboree.

Warriors coach, Zdravko Logarušić is looking to the veteran Mutare-born duet to provide experience and lead the squad as they hunt to book a place for the first time at the prestigious tournament.

Zimbabwe host their southern neighbours at National Sports Stadium this Friday before travelling to Ethiopia four days later.

The Warriors’ other opponents in Group G are the Black Stars of Ghana.
