THE Chipinge Civil Protection Committee (CCPC) has warned people to always be on high alert of potential hazards following the increased rainfall being received in the district.
CCPC chair, Mr William Mashava, who is also the District Development Coordinator, said heavy rainfall poses dangers such as flooding and landslides that may disrupt lives.
He said they were activating their disaster preparedness and response systems.
“There has been increased rainfall in the district. Many water bodies along the Save River basin like Nyazvidzi and Deure are filling up and may overflow. This brings potential hazards that pose a threat to humans and livestock. Buildings and infrastructure may also be damaged, thereby disrupting transport and communication systems,” he said.
Mr Mashava said the risk of hazards is high in Changadzi, Tanganda, Dakate and Musvazvi.
