A MUTARE woman betrayed the trust bestowed on her after snatching her employer’s husband.

Mildred Chandiwana regrets the day she engaged Susan Temberere as her domestic worker after she played a fast one on her and snatched her unnamed husband.

However, Temberere claims that the man in question had told her that he was divorced.

This emerged at Mutare Magistrates Civil Court where Temberere was applying for a protection order against Chandiwana.

She said Chandiwana is continuously harassing her.

“In 2021, I applied for a protection order against her. She was harassing and insulting me. I had an affair with her husband back then, but terminated the relationship after finding out that he was still married to my former boss.

“Her husband lied to me that he had divorced her.

“I did my research and did not find anything to prove that he was married. I would go to his house and would not see any woman there, so I concluded that he was single.

“After two years of our relationship, Chandiwana confronted me, saying I was dating her husband. She was out of town when I fell in love with her husband,” said Temberere.

She said Chandiwana is still threatening, harassing and insulting her at her workplace despite knowing that she terminated the affair with her husband.

“I do not know what to do. The other protection order which this court granted me against her has expired. I am now exposed. Back in the days, I would go and report her to the police and she would be arrested, but now I am exposed to her endless bullying. Yes, I had a relationship with her husband, but it ended way back and I need peace.

“Each time she comes to my workplace at Sakubva Musika, she insults me. She just shouts at me, calling me a prostitute. She says that I can report her to anyone but she will get away with anything. The people around me no longer respect me as they now view me as a husband snatcher,” said Temberere.

“I am a victim as well. I thought they were divorced. She should not harass me as if I dated her husband intentionally. Her husband used me. I sell second hand clothing in Sakubva and he wanted my money, not that the relationship was based on love.

“She comes and removes her skirt in public. She is just crazy,” said Tembere.

In response, Chandiwana said the complainant betrayed her trust.

“I took her from the village to be my domestic worker. I worked in Harare during those days. I came back and realised that she was having an affair with my husband.

“She had stopped working for me and had started selling second hand clothing in Sakubva. Everyone in Sakubva was calling her ‘Mai Headmaster’. That was the highest level of betrayal,” fumed Chandiwana.

Chandiwana denied ever harassing Temberere, saying she is the one who insults her.

“She passes through my house calling me names. She says I am old and that I do not bath. She says that is why my husband left me for her. I do not even reply to her insults. She is the one who bullies me despite what she did,” said Chandiwana.

“My husband ended the affair long back after realising that she was after his money,” said Chandiwana.

“She lied to my husband that she was pregnant. She demanded US$2 000 to terminate the pregnancy and my husband took some money from our savings and gave her. However, she needed the money to send her child to school but my husband was too naive to realise that,” said Chandiwana.

She also said Temberere’s protection order application was a counter application to the one that she had made against her.

“I served her with my protection order summons and the next day I received her own summons. She is just counter-challenging my protection order application which was granted yesterday,” said Chandiwana.

Mr Xavier Chipato who was presiding over the matter dismissed Temberere’s application saying the applicant wanted to use the protection order for the wrong reasons.
