A MUTARE man was on Monday caught red-handed in the act with a married woman, and received a thorough bashing from the enraged husband.
Makward Tawanda Tumbare (30) from Old Location section of Sakubva, and employed as a general hand at a Mutare restaurant was left nursing wounds after Collins Mashamba (28), Godfrey Padare (29) and Jairos Bofu (33), all of Greenside Extension, teamed up to give him a hiding for bedding Mashamba’s wife, Anna Makiyi.
Tumbare is reported to be Makiyi’s uncle, and it was not the first time for the two love birds to be caught in the act.
Tumbare later made a report against Mashamba, Padare and Bofu to the police, leading to their arrest.
The trio appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Prisca Manhibi facing assault charges.
Mashamba pleaded guilty, while his co-accused, Padare and Bofu pleaded not guilty, arguing that they only refrained their colleague from attacking Tumbare.
Ms Manhibi adjourned the matter to next Wednesday.
Ms Tafadzwa Chiwanza prosecuted.
“On October 4, Mashamba arrived home around 6pm, and found Tumbare in his matrimonial room being intimate with his wife, Anna Makiyi.
“Mashamba assaulted Tumbare all over the body with the assistance of Padare and Bofu. Neighbours who heard the commotion intervened, and refrained Mashamba, Padare and Bofu from further assaulting Tumbare. The neighbours took Tumbare to Mutare Central Police Station where he filed a report against Mashamba, Padare and Bofu,” said Ms Chiwanza.
Makiyi admitted that it was not her first time to be caught bedding Tumbare.
“We used to sleep together in the past, but had stopped. This time it happened by mistake,” said Makiyi.
