TRANSITIONING from acting as Tapuwa, a ‘small house’ in the hit TV series ‘Gaza’, Cloris Machuwaire is happy that she discovered her calling as a gospel artiste.

The 27-year-old artiste is confident that with God in the driving seat, there is no way she can fail to reach dizzy heights.

“The late Anne Nhira of the Studio 263 fame inspired me. Thereafter, I joined the ‘Gaza’ crew and my life changed overnight. However, I still felt that my music career had great potential,’’ she said.

“My first album, ‘Dzoreredzo’, was produced by Olin Anderson and engineered by Patrick Nyanzeni from Mutare. What I know is that God is the ultimate provider and winner in everything we do,’’ Cloris enthused.

Her debut album has six tracks.

“I sing gospel songs. In this album, I advocated for patience, restoration and encouraged those with broken spirits. The album has six tracks, ‘Tariro’, ‘Munamato’, ‘Mutsvene’, ‘Dzoreredzo’, ‘Fambai Nesu’ and ‘Nokutenda’,’’ said Cloris.

About the title track, ‘Dzoreredzo’, Cloris said God is able to restore what Satan would have stolen.

She said there was a time when she felt like she was in a dungeon.
Through prayer and supplication, she says she saw a new vitality creeping up her system. Her hard work is also being rewarded as Kunashe Studios awarded her a certificate as the 2021 best upcoming female gospel artiste.

The inscription on the certificate reads: “You work hard and it shows that you’ve got what it takes.”

Cloris said she will collaborate with a music group that fuses sungura and gospel to come up with a feel good sound which appeals to modern music enthusiasts.

“Soon, I will have a collaboration with Simbarashe Muchita and The Hungwe Stars. Agatha Murudzwa will be part of the collaboration which I believe will be part of the process culminating in my birthday bash on April 10. I have two singles that I want to collaborate with the two artistes,” she said.
Cloris is a member of Alpha and Omega Ministries.
