INFORMAL traders in Mutare have welcomed the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination programme, saying they are fully behind the move as it aims to save lives.
Government’s sustained efforts to inoculate at least 10 million people so as to achieve herd immunity by year end have been widely hailed as progressive, with more doses being regularly procured.
To ensure convenience for people in accessing the jabs, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has increased vaccination centres in public places across the country
Mutare Informal Traders Association (MITA) president Mr Itai Kariparire said the vaccination exercise is important not only in saving lives but will also go a long way in ensuring that the economy is gradually opened up under safe conditions.
He encouraged the association’s membership to take up vaccination in their numbers, saying this is for their own good.
MITA have also hailed the fumigation exercise that was recently carried out at various market sites around Mutare.
Mr Kariparire said these efforts by Government to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 through various intervention programmes are commendable as they reduce the impact of the pandemic.
