180 exhibitors for Manicaland Agric Show Hundreds are expcted to converge for the Makoni Agricultural Show, which takes place tomorrow

MORE than 180 exhibitors from different sectors of the economy are showcasing their wares and services at the ongoing Manicaland Agricultural Show in Mutare. A total of 146 exhibitors were recorded last year.

The 2019 edition of the Manicaland Agricultural Show, which got underway on Wednesday, reaches its climax today (Friday) when the business exhibition event will be officially opened.

This year’s Manicaland Agricultural show is running under the theme ‘Transition towards economic stabilisation’.

Administrator for Manicaland Agricultural Show Mrs Pedzisai Rusero confirmed that Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba will officially open the show. Mrs Rusero also confirmed that 180 exhibitors had registered by Wednesday with more still expected to participate at this year’s edition of the business expo.

“We are excited that 180 exhibitors have already confirmed participation with more expected to come in.

“Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba will officially open the show on Friday (today). The increase in the number of exhibitors is pleasing given that we had a total of 146 last year,” she said.

Mrs Rusero said some small and medium enterprises, including those that rent space within the Agricultural Show premises, will be exhibiting this year.

“We have had an encouraging increase in the participation of SMEs and those that rent space within the Agricultural Show premises will be exhibiting this year.

“We are having an increase in exhibitors from various sectors that include small scale and commercial farming community, mining, forestry and catering,” she said.

Mrs Rusero confirmed that for the first time Parliament of Zimbabwe as well as churches will be exhibiting at Mutare Agricultural Show.

“For the first time Parliament of Zimbabwe as well as churches will be exhibiting at Mutare Agricultural Show. We have never had churches exhibiting before.

“Last year we had 33 000 people walking in to see different wares that were being exhibited here and we are also expecting an increase in that area,” she said.

Gate charges for the five-day event will be pegged at $4 for kids and $8 for adults from Wednesday to Friday while charges for Saturday would be increased to $7 for kids and $10 for adults. Zimbabwe’s trade fair season begins with the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair held in the country’s second largest city Bulawayo followed by regional fairs such as the Manicaland Agricultural Show.
