A 29-YEAR-OLD rapist and robber will spend the rest of his life in prison after he was sentenced to 60 years in jail, adding onto the 40-year term he was already serving.

Mutare regional magistrate, Mrs Phetukile Msipa last week sentenced Domingo Luis Zuze to 60 years imprisonment after he was convicted on 12 counts of rape and robbery.

Zuze committed the offences between 2017 and 2018.

He was already serving 40 years for rape and robbery.

Prosecuting, Ms Nomatemba Sayi said on the first count of unlawful entry, which happened on May 29, 2017, Zuze broke into a house in Morningside, Mutare, after removing a glass panel from the French door to gain entry.

He stole a 42-inch television set, a cellphone, a radio, five kitchen knives and three solar lamps.

On September 24, 2018 in Darlington suburb of Mutare, Zuze broke into another house and raped its female occupant.

On the same day and at the same house, Zuze raped another woman.

Ms Sayi said while still at the house, Zuze stole a sewing machine, a laptop, cellphones, a stove, clothes, a blanket, food items, pots, a main circuit breaker and national identity cards of the occupants.

From the same property, Zuze also went away with two school certificates, birth certificates and college identity cards.

She said on November 15, 2018, Zuze went back to Morningside and violently stole a Plasma LED television set, a laptop, two smartphones, a handbag, a pair of shoes and US$9.

“On the same day and at the same place, Zuze broke into the cottage and stole another laptop as well as a handbag containing US$100,” said Ms Sayi.

She said on November 23, 2018, Zuze raped a woman near Mutare Girls’ High School.

“On the same day, Zuze violently stole a DVD player, a satchel, three smartphones and a laptop,” she said.

On November 24, 2018 in Palmerstone, Mutare, Zuze broke into a house and stole a 55-inch television set, two smartphones, a computer, a DVD player, a sub-woofer with six speakers, seven blankets, a set of spanners, clothes, shoes, an electric iron, a FIFA World Cup artefact, four bags and a single plate stove.

On November 25, 2018, Zuze broke into a house along 12th Avenue in Mutare and stole a Plasma television set, a handbag, a wallet, a cellphone, 300ml of petroleum jelly and two loaves of bread.

In the last count on November 28, 2018 near Mutare Girls’ High School, he stole a laptop, a smartphone, a pair of shoes and a DVD player.

He went away unnoticed.
